MI3 Ministries, Nursing Bridges Healthcare and Crossbridge Pharmacy spearheaded a Medical/Education Mission to two villages in the mid-western state of Edo, Nigeria in October. Drawing from volunteers from the United States and Nigeria, the mission sought to bring much needed medical care, education and medication in areas which accessibility is limited or non-existent.
New this year was the addition of a children’s ministry in which children were encouraged to complete an art activity and received school supplies, dental hygiene products, and some extra TLC!
On October 14, 2017 the first stop was in the village of Egoro Amede, Ekpoma. The Mission team set up at the home of the late Sir Joseph Abumere Irabor (whose family partnered with the group to bring the event to the village). More than 350 adults received medical care, medication and glasses during the event. In the children’s area, the team worked with over 120 children painting and making portraits.
The second stop on October 15, 2017 was in the village of Opoji where the team assembled at the town square. More than 200 adults received care, medical education and medicine. In the children’s corner, the group worked with over 350 children! It was a Blessed event.
After the mission wrapped up the group was invited to the palace of the Onogie of Igueben HRM Ehizogie Eluojerior. The group was given a tour of the palace museum and dined on local delicacies.
Plans have begun for the next trip where the group hopes to expand to add two more villages.
